Hey everyone!

Thanks for your patience while I got this all sorted out!

PDF Delivery

The PDF delivery will be starting by the time you read this. The PDF will be delivered via BackerKit.

Smoke Test - Please Read

BackerKit does a 'smoke test' so only about 5% of surveys will be sent out right away just to make sure the surveys work properly. Then it'll send out to everyone else. This starts today and hopefully everyone will get their surveys and access to the early access PDF as soon as possible!

If you don't receive your survey / PDF right away. Don't worry, give it a few days for everything to roll out. This is my first time delivering files this way, so I'm figuring it out as I go!

Early Access Version?

• All the writing and statblocks, magic items and player options are done.
• There are some art placeholders (miniature renders) and incomplete art (sketches / WIP pieces). I doubt much editing will be needed once all the art is in. But rather than wait for these pieces of art, which could be a bit. I'd like to get the PDF out to everyone ASAP.

I'm not 100% sure on if BackerKit updates you when the file is updated, but once all the art is done I'll give an update.

What is next?

Physical Rewards

I don't have an accurate timeline for that currently. Book printing will be finalized when the PDF is done. Miniatures will be sent out with books. The BackerKit will charge shipping at a later date since everything regarding shipping is extremely volatile.

You didn't back the Kickstarter?

• You can grab the PDF and pre-order the book on the BackerKit store.
• I'll also be offering the PDF on my website once the surveys have been sent out to everyone. The reality is that people will be looking for it and will have a hard time finding it via Kickstarter and BackerKit. But, I want to make sure it is sent to backers first!

Next Project?

• Currently, I'm maintaining monthly releases for 3D printable miniatures on my Patreon / MyMiniFactory Tribe. Check those out if that is your thing!
  • I just released some stats for a 3D mini / creature I released this month - The Mimic King. Check it out!
• While art is being made and stuff is getting printed, I'd like to work on some new Kickstarter projects that are digital only until I'm done delivering the physical side of this Kickstarter.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. Writing for the book is pretty much done. The PDF is just going through some proofreading / editing while I wait for some sketches for art placeholders. Hopefully no big changes will be needed.

While it's going through proofreading phase, I'll be looking into setting up the pledge manager so I can get this first early copy of the PDF to you ASAP.

Quick February/March 2026 Update

Hey everyone!

Just checking in for a quick update. I wanted to deliver the PDF by the end of the month, but it's going to take me an extra week or two - so I'll be aiming for mid-March. I'm still waiting for a couple placeholder sketches and a few other things to be touched up/looked over before I send out the early/alpha version of the PDF!

I'm super excited to get this out to all of you. Pushing this back sucks, I was hoping to have most of my work with the PDF done by today.

I'm thinking BackerKit might be the best way to deliver the PDF. As I've backed a few Kickstarters and updating PDFs with BackerKit has always seemed like a easy enough platform to use.

FAQ

Apologies if you have messaged me. I've been crunching all month trying to get this PDF ready and all other things Comet Lord Miniatures related. I'll be looking through those ASAP.

I'll just ask that you please read the updates before messaging me. I'm sure that 99% of messages can be answered in the updates.

• If you're asking about why you haven't received the PDF. It's not ready yet.
• Email addresses for PDFs and shipping addresses have not been collected yet. Especially with how ridiculously volatile shipping to the US is. I am not going to lock in shipping costs until everything is ready to go.
• The entire project will not be fulfilled next month as planned. I don't know how long printing will take as I've heard there can be a queue for such things and the PDF needs to completed. I will keep you all up to date, but I'm crossing my fingers for end of summer.
• The survey for your email was for digital STL files which have already been delivered. Since you can't back for those anymore, you can pick up the 3D printable files on MyMiniFactory.

January 2026 Update

Hey everyone!

Apologies for the lack of update over the holiday season. A lot happened in November and December.

Progress Update / PDF Delivery

I'm shooting to get an alpha/Non-final copy to all of you in February. I imagine there will be a few updates to catch any errors and to slowly update all the art pieces. For the pieces that haven't been finished yet, I'll be putting some temporary art and 3D renders in as placeholders.

I realize that was the plan last update, lots of things happened outside of work and the layout has been a nightmare. I didn't realize how bad the page size being changed was going to absolutely cascade throughout the 100+ pages I had laid out already. My apologies, this is my first book and I didn't think changing the page size to the appropriate one was going to absolutely blind side me.

Otherwise, most of the art is done. It's mostly been layout and going through stats/lore as a lot of it had to either be cut down or expanded upon due to the layout problems. Got a bunch of monsters, just over 20 magic items and 3 races/species based on my setting. Table of contents below (subject to change).

Physical Delivery Delay

Miniatures are being printed alongside my other productions. No worries there. Obviously with the delay of the PDF, the book won't be printed and delivered by March. Depending on tariffs and other factors, I'll probably need to reconsider where to print the books!

Plan Going Forward

The plan is to get the PDF out, keep the minis printing and set up the book printing once I've got a solid page count and layout - basically a final PDF copy. Might be a P.O.D service or a full print run, don't know what makes more sense just yet. When I know, I'll let you all know. I don't know how delayed the printing will be, but I'm going to guess a few months with my luck.

Emails / Shipping Addresses

You haven't missed the pledge manager. I don't want to gather shipping fees until I've got things ready to go as shipping fees could vary greatly. But yeah, you haven't missed anything!

October 2025 Update

Hey everyone!

Thank you for your patience, it's been a bit of roller coaster since getting back from UKGE. Both with working on the Codex and everything around it. 

Codex Progress

Layout, Art, Etc.

I've got approximately 94-99 pages laid out - which is the majority of the book. Various entries need art, edited stat blocks and lore. It's a bit of a challenge trying to get art + lore and stat blocks (especially with dread actions) to fit on 1-2 pages (some need more).

Been sorting out magic items and some potential character options. I'd like a good mix of stuff related to the book and stuff from my work outside of it.

Rewards

PDF Delivery

I'm hoping to get this done / close to done in the next month or two. It really depends on my work load and just how much art I can get made. I'm working with a select few that have been really reliable throughout this process.

I may release an 'alpha' version with a few pieces of art missing, just so we can get the PDF in your hands ASAP as I'm sure there will be some iterations. But I don't want to rush it out too early.

My plan is to deliver the PDF through BackerKit. Last I checked I needed to use the pledge manager closer to the planned delivery date. So I haven't set that up just yet.

If there is a delivery method that other creators use, I'd be open to hear about it.

Shipping Concerns

Might as well talk about the elephant in the room. Things just seem to be getting worse in regards to shipping anything out as a business. This obviously affects backers from the US more so.

• US/Canada Tariffs. For my web store I had to stop shipping to US recently due to tariffs - literally lost the option to by shipping labels through my website to ship with Canada Post (before the strike).
  • So depending on how these tariffs go, which I think I can assume it will either stay the same or get worse. Shipping to the US will either be complicated or expensive... or both. Just because I may have to use a more premium carrier. There will also be the tariff charge which is an additional 35% on physical pledges - so books and minis.
  • This may lead to a lot of refunds. I can understand not wanting to pay an additional 35% + shipping to get your book or minis. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that. Depending on this, I might have to reconsider if or how I print books.
• This is more of a current problem that will not persist till the delivery date, but currently Canada post went on strike... which seems rather frequent at this point. So just another thing to consider going forward with books and minis. Hopefully a more expensive carrier won't be needed when I start shipping.

Digital and Physical Deliveries

• Been getting a lot of messages about shipping addresses. Like I said above, I haven't set up the pledge manager for the PDF delivery or physical rewards. So I don't have your shipping address or email to deliver the PDF. When the time comes, fill out the Pledge Manager and things should be all good!
• I've also been asked a bunch about why they haven't received The Codex in their email inbox by now. I think everything above covers that it isn't done yet haha. But I just feel like I need to point out you haven't missed anything if you were worried about it.
• Digital 3D Printable files have been delivered. You can purchase the files on MyMiniFactory.
