Delivery Update - 3D Printable Files / STLs
over 1 year ago
– Fri, Nov 15, 2024 at 04:23:02 PM
Hey everyone!
I've had to rewrite this update twice now as my connection with MyMiniFactory has been unstable at best. At first I thought I may not be able to delivery anything today, but some may have noticed that I've started rolling out almost all the add-on STL files.
If you haven't received them. Do not panic. MyMiniFactory is very inconsistent with how quickly it sends things out or even how it sends things out.
- The files might already be in your library. You might have to search Comet Lord Miniatures or something more specific for them to be visible.
- The email might be queued up. I just sent out a lot of emails - it's going to probably take awhile.
- Check your spam folder. I basically just spammed a bunch of people with redeem emails.
- MyMiniFactory might just be doing something weird and it'll clear up over the week.. hopefully just the weekend.
Either way, do not panic and please give it some time to sort itself out. Messaging me right away because you don't see the emails isn't going to help.
If you didn't fill out the survey - I sent the files to your email connected to your Kickstarter account.
Delays
The core miniatures will be coming out soon - the plan is for next week. I've got to compile them and get them onto MyMiniFactory which has been more difficult than it should be today.
There is already a delay on the Spiritual Weapon bundle and Hasmed, Angel of Annihilation may take a bit of extra time to release.
- Hasmed needs some edits to make him a bit more straightforward to put together and easier to produce. Having someone put it together that isn't active in the hobby helped point out some things.
- All the other bundles are bundled on MyMiniFactory by delivering the files as a set. I've got to compile all 89 spiritual weapons and their presupports. This should be out with the core miniatures.
I apologize for the delay on the newer stuff. It's a bit of a combination of having overlapping projects and I didn't expect sorting out the pledges would be so chaotic. The survey went pretty poorly, so I had to double check a lot of entries. Plus, you apparently can't export based on add-ons and there are a lot of add-ons.
Either way, my fault - but I still wanted to get most of the files out by the 15th / Mid-November - so most of the bundles and individual minis have been sent out.
Thanks for the support, have a great weekend and happy printing!

Update: Surveys / Pledge Managers, STL Delivery and Codex Progress
over 1 year ago
– Fri, Nov 01, 2024 at 10:52:51 AM
Hey everyone!
Thank you again for your support! This is the first big update since the campaign finished. I've been trying to figure out the best method to deliver rewards and the combination of physical plus digital rewards is a bit rough. I've ran digital only and physical only campaigns before - so it's a learning experience.
It seems like a handful of people jumped in and didn't grab all the STLs they wanted and I want to deliver the files ASAP - like in the next week or two if possible.
The problem I'm running into:
- Certain Pledge Managers require me to not charge for additional add-ons until a month away from shipping... so you would have to wait for your STLs with the book and physical minis. That is obviously not ideal.
- Other pledge managers basically require me to rebuild my campaign for their service. Then we go through the process of everyone filling out the pledge manager. Then I can hopefully charge people for the STLs and leave it open for physical add-ons.
Working with a pledge manager at this stage is going to add some time to the process and I wasn't entirely expecting the added workload of rebuilding my add-ons on top of the book dev, patreon releases and other projects.
My solution:
- I'll use a pledge manager later on for physical rewards and the PDF. I can gather shipping costs and addresses closer to the actual shipping date for the physical rewards.
- I'll send out a Kickstarter survey to gather emails for STL rewards. So I can try to get those by mid-November.
This means you won't be able to grab additional STL add-ons between now and the release via a Pledge Manager or Kickstarter. Depending on what you backed for, you have a couple options:
- If you jumped in for $1 for STL rewards. I won't be able to add STL add-ons to your pledge. You can contact me and I can refund the $1.
- If you jumped in for $1 just for physical rewards. Just wait for the pledge manager for that - that will come out at a later date.
- If you just grabbed physical rewards with the PDF. Just wait for the pledge manager.
- Now if you grabbed some STLs and wanted to grab more after the campaign.
- You can use the code COMETCODEX50 on MyMiniFactory throughout the month of November. It's not quite the Kickstarter bundle deal, but you can pick and choose what you want from my entire catalogue on there. Basically an early extended Black Friday sale for you.
This should be less of a headache than running everyone through a pledge manager and you will be guaranteed to get your STLs sooner than later.
Please do not repurchase the miniatures you purchased on here and then ask for a refund. That will just make this more chaotic then it needs to be. The goal is to get you your files from this campaign mid-November.
I'll be sending the survey out after this post. Don't panic if you haven't received it right away.
If you have any questions, I'll try to answer any questions below or via messages.
Codex Progress
Development is underway! Honestly, it's mostly been emails so far. I've got artists lined up for the next few months as not everyone can start right away. Either way, things are rolling.
I've got some sketches and art to show off so far.
The Greater Comet Lord Emissary!
Sketches / Work In Progress
As the title suggests, this stuff isn't final. A few select examples of what is being worked on for the codex.
Mercedes, Death Knight of The Perpetual Order
Dreadborne: The Guilty
The False Hydra
There is plenty of other stuff in the works. I just wanted to share some of the new art and sketches I've received over the 2 weeks since funding.
Three Days Remain! Overdue Update

Hey everyone,
Thank your for your interest and support! I really appreciate it. We're near the end of the Kickstarter campaign. I wanted to post a general update about where the project is at and my thoughts going forward.
Not quite the first day, but 72 hours remain. It's a classic and my favourite Zelda game.
Progress on The Comet Codex
I've been talking with a few artists I've worked with on the preview and recently reached out to a bunch. So I'm in contact with a bunch of artists, I still need to reach out to game designers as well.
Honestly, it has mostly been admin work to organize the entries, looking for artists and emails - nothing too exciting to share. Which leads me to my next point.
Updates Going Forward
As a creator, I try to not spam anyone that follows me or my projects - so I typically post less than average. That being said, I'll still post to keep you all in the loop on the process, when things are releasing, how production is going, etc.
Lore Posts
After chatting with some people in the community, I was thinking when I've got my art and content collected I will possibly do some lore posts on here. It might give some insight on the creature design, my thoughts for it as an entry in the book and I can tease/reveal the new art/show some WIP shots like these for example.
Sort-of-FAQ
STL Delivery Timeline
- I've got a few people asking about the delivery timeline on STLs. I'll try to roll those out ASAP - basically throughout November / December. I'm not sure if I'll need to use BackerKit or another post campaign service to gather up information for shipping or emailing rewards.
- A few people already have, but please do not message me your email address for delivery. I'll be exporting a list of emails through Kickstarter/Pledge Manager. So I'll gather information through that instead of manually skimming through messages and adding it to a Google Sheet.
New STLs in the future
People have been asking about future STL releases.
- A good chunk of Backers don't know I run a Patreon/MMF Tribe for 3D printable files. I've had people ask if I'll be making more miniatures for the codex on my Patreon. The TLDR is yes.
- I imagine I'll find inspiration for more miniatures working on the codex going forward. Most things I sculpt get released on my subscription platforms like Patreon. Not committing every sculpt going forward will be codex adjacent.
- The being said, if you checked out The Comet Codex preview in the Kickstarter story or my website. 3D printable files for The Apathetic from the preview is currently available on my Patreon.
- If they are popular enough and are reasonable to produce, they may get a physical version on my shop. Currently, I'm testing a physical version of 'The Grinning Man' on my website as a bit of a Halloween release. There will probably be more creatures that will have an entry in the codex that will be released in the same way if The Grinning Man is successful.
PDF before the book
I've had a few people concerned about how long the PDF will take to release.
- My assumption is that you'll get the PDF before the date set if everything runs smoothly, but the date is for a final version that goes to print. I wouldn't want to spend too much time setting up little previews, but if it makes sense I'd do that. I've just got a few projects to balance and it might make more sense to just release a larger alpha version if I want to show previews.
- Why will it take so long for a PDF? I'm an indie sculptor so I have to commission artists and designers, but most will have work already booked. So I might not start working with some until the beginning of next year. I imagine most larger companies have this stuff already fully made before they launch the Kickstarter.
Thanks again everyone, have a great day!

The Comet Codex is funded!

Hey everyone!
Thank you so much for your interest and support.
This update is a little late as apparently this funded as I went to sleep last night. Of course, I streamed for a couple hours and kept checking the numbers throughout the day - as soon as I stop it reaches the funding goal!
Funding doesn't mean the Kickstarter campaign is over, but this is actually happening now. I can't wait to fully develop this with others and share it with you!
Looking forward to sharing more with you soon.
Thanks again!
Angelarium Kickstarter Launch

Hey everyone!
The Comet Codex is almost funded - we've got this! Thank you so much for the support. As the title states, this update is about another Kickstarter campaign!
Angelarium just launched a Kickstarter for a set of physical figures I helped work on! These figures also come with D&D 5e compatible stats so you can use each figure as an epic boss encounter for your adventuring party!
The angels of Angelarium are awesome and I'm sure many of you have used Pete's art as inspiration in your D&D games. I got the chance to help out with all the figures in some way. Ananiel was sculpted by me and still one of my favourites. There are 6 figures in total - check them out!
I've also worked with the designers making stats for these awesome angels. Their work can be seen in The Comet Codex preview and across many other 5e related projects.
Please check out the campaign linked below!
